Hi my Munchies, Today we will discuss about Veg Lasagna Recipe Indian version. I find Italian food to be very fascinating. I like showing all of you how to cook it easily and simply, talking about it fascinates me as well.
Earlier, I’ve tried many lasagna recipes, but I feel it missed the Indian kick. I want to make a lasagna with Indian spice blends. Welcome to my version of Veg Lasagna Recipe Indian Style and let’s cook a lasagna with full of Indianness!!
Preparing Lasagna Sheets is the most prominent problem in this recipe. The recipe is full of hassle and it contains egg, let’s tackle this problem !

Veg Lasagna

Ingredients for Veg Lasagna Recipe Indian Style
For Batter of Lasagns Sheets :
- 11/4 cups water
- 1/2 tsp sugar
- 1 cup gram flour
- 1/4 cup refined flour
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tbsp curd
- salt to taste
- 11/2 tsp oil
- 1/2 tsp Degi red chilli powder
For Filling :
- 2 medium sized chopped onion (into small dice)
- 3 roughly chopped garlic cloves
- 1/2 tsp sugar
- 1/3 cup corn kernels
- 2 medium sized chopped carrot
- 2 medium sized chopped capsicum
- 1 tbsp oil
- 2 medium sized chopped tomato
- salt to taste
- 1/2 tsp degi red chilli powder
- 1 tsp coriander powder
- 11/2 cups fresh tomato puree
For Layering :
- Water as required
- Prepared filling
- Pizza cheese blend
- Prepared lasagna sheets
- Tomato ketchup
For Garnish :
- Coriander spring
Instructions for Veg Lasagna Recipe Indian Style
For Batter :
- In a mixing bowl add curd, sugar, salt to taste, water, refined flour, gram flour and whisk it well.
- Now, add turmeric powder, degi red chilli powder, oil and mix it well. Keep aside for rest (10 minutes).
- While the batter is resting you can chop your vegetables.
- Now, heat a non-stick pan, pour a ladleful of batter, spread it evenly and cook on low heat, cook until the top gets dry, turn the pan and cook the other side. Remove on a plate and keep aside for further use.
For Filling :
- In a pan, heat oil and add chopped garlic, onion and saute it well, saute until the onions are translucent.
- Add tomatoes, salt to taste, sugar and saute it well.
- Now, add degi red chilli powder, coriander powder, fresh tomato puree and mix everything.
- Bring it to a boil, add corn kernels, chopped capsicum, chopped carrot, water and cover it with the lid to cook for 5 to 8 minutes.
For Layering :
- Take a heavy bottom pan, spread the prepared filling all over.
- Pour a little water, spread pizza cheese all over.
- place the prepared lasagna sheet on the top and repeat this and make three to four layers with them.
- Now, at the last layer place the prepared lasagna sheet and spread some tomato ketchup.
- Top it with pizza cheese blend.
- Heat a heavy pan on other side and cover the prepared lasagna and cook on medium to low heat or until cheese completely melts .
- Turn off the heat and garnish with some coriander spring and serve hot.
Tips :
- You can also bake the veg lasagna Indian style in oven in a baking tray, I used pan to make it in perfect Indian style.
- Do not overcook the vegetables, you have to only sweat the ingredients, quickly add rest of the vegetable when the onions turn translucent.
- You can add a number of Ingredients according to your choice as you can add green chillies, you can also do the tempering process with cumin seeds.
- You can cook the sauce and vegetables separately, I simply cook a saucy vegetable mix to get rid of the trouble.
- If you are cooking baked pasta like cannelloni or any other type of pasta, you can easily cook it using this filling method.
- You don’t need to hassle about the pasta sheets and you’ll notice the Indian fusion while eating.
- Spread the filling while it’s hot as it will not take more time to get heated up.
